I love mesh….like, i really love mesh. And even though it's got a bit of a bad reputation as being a bit (dare I say it) 'slutty' or 'cheap'; i'd go as far to say that it's definitely on my top 10 clothing materials!
So today i'm trying to put mesh back on the map by showing how to layer it with other items, such as a going out bodycon dress, as i've done.
I love this black, textured bodycon dress from Topshop, but, it always looks a bit too dressy to wear as 'daywear', especially if (on the rare occasion) i decide to opt for a bare leg. I experimented and added my black mesh crop top from Boohoo underneath and loved the result.
It's not for the faint hearted, or if you're not a fan of 'the goth' look, but i loved it and it's fast become one of my favourite outfits.
I added my white platform heels to show how i'd wear it as a 'day to night' outfit and added one of my floral headbands from last years Primark collection to add a more feminine vibe. Primark always do these floral garlands around festival time so i'm sure they'll be even bigger and better ones this year to re-create this look.
Overall pretty impressed with my mesh experimenting and i hope i've converted at least one hater ;)
For those who don't know i've been pretty obsessed with pastel hair for a while now and for about 2 years i've gone back and forwards trying to decide whether or not to just go for it.
As 2014 is turning out to be a year for change i thought 'why the hell not' and booked my lilac hair appointment.
I wasn't prepared to do it myself purely because i've had a few issues 'self bleaching' in the past and because your hair has to be platinum/white to take the pastel colours, i didn't trust myself not to mess it up.
Instead i booked an appointment at the world renowned Bleach Salon, in Topshop, Oxford Circus.
On Thursday i went to the salon and came out four and a half hours later and £170 poorer, but with amazing lilac/silver hair - which looked better than i'd have ever imagined.
This was the final result. I LOVE it! I've had so many compliments on it already, which of course makes me love it more <3
Because the shade is so light it does fade very quickly (be prepared if you're thinking of doing the same) so i will be putting something up within the next few days with my tips on how to prolong the colour and stop it fading so quickly.
As i mentioned in an earlier post I did show photography for the online magazine Who's Jack London over London Fashion Week.
It was an amazing experience, but a lot of hard work. I hope i got some good shots to showcase my work but i thought i'd share some with my blog readers.
You can read the full articles and see more pictures on the Who's Jack website here - but i've also added the link to each one under the images. The writers and other photographers who covered the shows are absolutely amazing so be sure to check out their work as well.
I've been a bit quiet on my blog recently because i've been preparing for and attending London Fashion Week.
I planned my outfits (or at least tried) a little bit in advance so i could get a good mixture between style and comfort. Running around all day and being on your feet all day taking photos means i can't wear my have stilettos out like some ladies who go.
I do freelance photography for an online magazine called Who's Jack London. I was lucky enough to go to a lot of amazing shows and managed to take some photos backstage as well as on the catwalk.
I'll be sharing some of these later on but for now i thought i'd share my London Fashion Week style with you all, so i can keep a diary of it as well.
Day 1 - Friday
I wore a black long sleeved jumpsuit from Tokyo Doll at New Look which i layered with a vintage oversized, houndstooth blazer which i got from my mum. I added my cut out shoe boots, a new season belt from New Look and some layered necklaces.
Day 2 - Saturday
I wore a velvet tassel playsuit with a lace sleeve top underneath. I layered with a vintage leather jacket which is oversized for me and is looking a bit worse for wear (but i love it). I wore with platform shoe boots and stacked necklaces again. I added a hat because it was raining and my hair looked a bit crap.
Day 3 - Sunday
I wore a new season, floral print maxi dress from New Look with my vintage leather jacket layered over the top. I accessorised with a grunge necklace, cross earrings and round frame sunglasses.
Day 4 - Monday
I wore a leather look skirt with a glitter crop top and new season belt from New Look. I layered with a leopard print coat (FYI Paloma Faith has the same one). I added a neon green floral necklace and stitch bag from Topshop.
I went back to (proper) work on Tuesday so thats your lot ;)
Tonight i'm wearing this gorgeous Topshop Boutique tinsel dress which i got in the Oxford Street sale for £50 from £160 - absolute bargain.
I made the huge mistake of trying on the dress before I looked at the price tag because it was the only one on the shop floor, hidden in a sneaky lil corner. Of course, i then loved it and found out the price later.
Usually i wouldn't spend that much on a dress i can't wear all the time, especially because Christmas has been and gone so alas there are no more Christmas parties, but, this one just grabbed my attention and it's such a beautiful colour.
I love the oversized look and the length of the sleeves. I think it would look great with some polka dot black tight, but i'm still searching for them.
I wore with my new Topshop cut out shoes but kept the accessories really simple. (accidentally have a hairband around my wrist in these shots). I added some deep purple lipstick but thats all.
I know i kinda look like a shiny honey monster….or the Grinch but this is one of those dresses which make me say "what of it!" ;)
Tonight i'm wearing this amazing wrap front maxi dress from ASOS. I've been looking for a long maxi dress with sleeves for ages and i've tried so many shops to find the perfect one.
I love this one because it pulls me in at all the right places. I have quite big boobs and don't enjoy wearing bodycon styles so this loose fit really works for me. I also like the wrap front with adjustable belt. It flatters my boobs and emphasises my waist.
The leg slit is a big Angelina but i love that it's open and goes really well with a nice pair of chunky heels.
I've accessorised with cross earrings, green gem necklace (which i love because it's vintage looking), a red clutch bag and marble effect stone ring which i got ages ago.
